Smoke Detectors

  • Test the batteries monthly. A battery powered smoke detector can only save lives if it's battery is wroking. Make it a habit of putting in a new battery whenever the time changes.

  • Test the smoke detector. Make sure it is in good working order. Replace any detectors over 10 years old.

  • Regularly vacuum smoke detectors to ensure they don't get a clogged with cobwebs or dust.

  • Place at least one working smoke detector on every level of your home, and in every area where people sleep.
