SDVFC Engine 71

With the ending of the 80's came a new beginning in fire apparatus for the Stuarts Draft Vol. Fire Co. A company names 3D Fire Truck manufacturers was contracted to manufacture Stuarts Draft's newest fire truck, a WhiteGMC (Volvo) 425 horsepower Caterpillar diesel. It was the first diesel engine for the company and was ordered in 1989. This truck is equipped with a 1500 gallon per minute W.S. Darley pump; twice the capacity of the largest pump previously operating in the company. This new truck also has a separate high pressure pump and a 750 gallon water tank. Newly equipped with a four inch supply hose instead of the two and a half inch hose, triple the volume of water was now available to extinguish fires. This truck, Engine 71 was purchased for $130,000. It is used as the second response engine and is used for setting up water supply to a pumper.
